Factors Affecting Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE): Meta Analysis

نویسندگان

چکیده

Nitrogen (N) is an essential and limiting nutrient for crop production, as it a structural part of plants involved in various processes. Worldwide, agricultural soils lack one or more nutrients, nitrogen them. Adding sufficient amount N will increase production. However, the overuse loss from soil-plant system detrimental to environment results economic losses. has reactive forms like ammonia, ammonium, nitrate, nitrite, nitric oxide, nitrous oxide. Some are harmful humans, animals, plants, microbial ecology. Nitrate can cause eutrophication surface water contamination groundwater. Drinking nitrate-contaminated methemoglobinemia other health issues. Nitrous oxide emission depletes ozone layer contributes climate change. Ammonia emissions contribute acid rain also responsible emissions. This review addresses different factors/pathways/circumstances that reduce use efficiency (NUE). Different factors influence NUE ammonia volatilization, nitrification, denitrification, immobilization, leaching, runoff, temperature, soil pH, texture, rainfall irrigation, salinity, tillage, weeds, pests, diseases, fires, rotation, nutrition, varieties, management (right time, right source, place, rate/amount).

Agroecosystems, nitrogen-use efficiency, and nitrogen management.

The global challenge of meeting increased food demand and protecting environmental quality will be won or lost in cropping systems that produce maize, rice, and wheat. Achieving synchrony between N supply and crop demand without excess or deficiency is the key to optimizing trade-offs amongst yield, profit, and environmental protection in both large-scale systems in developed countries and smal...

Quantitative trait loci analysis of nitrogen use efficiency in Arabidopsis.

Improving plant nitrogen (N) use efficiency or controlling soil N requires a better knowledge of the regulation of plant N metabolism. This could be achieved using Arabidopsis as a model genetic system, taking advantage of the natural variation available among ecotypes. Here, we describe an extensive study of N metabolism variation in the Bay-0 x Shahdara recombinant inbred line population, usi...
